WinCDEmu is one of the simplest and fastest solutions to mount disc images as virtual drives on your system. It is an open-source drive emulator that offers a very fast (“one-click”) solution to mount the disc images and view their contents: just double-click them wherever they are on your Windows system. A virtual drive will be automatically created with the disc image that you clicked, loaded within it. It doesn’t require system rebooting or any other additional actions. Furthermore, various disc image formats are supported, including the ubiquitous ISO, but also CUE, NRG, MDS/MDF, CCD, or IMG.
Though it is very small and simple, it also provides some handy additional options and features. For example, it allows generating new ISO images using a context menu entry which it adds to your Windows Explorer right-click menu. Letting you choose the letter of the created virtual drive is also possible. Last but not least, it is open-source, which means that you can download and check its source code without any problem.
In conclusion, I like the high degree of simplicity and efficiency that this neat little tool offers. Since it is also completely free, I can only recommend it with all my heart.
